Local Air Quality Management
Planning Policy Guidance 23 (Planning and Pollution Control) provides the framework for Local Air Quality Management (LAQM). Local authorities must identify areas with poor air quality, and use the planning system to reduce exposure. They are also responsible under Part IV of the Environment Act 1995 for reviewing and assessing ambient air quality in their areas.

- monitoring local air quality at existing or proposed development sites in Air Quality Management Areas
